Prince George COVID-19 vaccination call centre ready to extend age guidelines

The Prince George COVID-19 vaccination call centre is extending service to those aged 80 and up tomorrow (Wednesday, March 10th).

Beginning at 7 am, anyone born in or before 1941 can book their vaccine appointment or get a friend or family member to book one.

Currently, Indigenous people aged 65 and up, born in or before 1956 can book a vaccine appointment.

Anyone booking for an eligible senior will need some specific information including their birth date, postal code and personal health number, a list of all necessary information can be found here.

Vaccine recipients can expect the duration of their appointment to last about 10 minutes, with an additional 15 minute wait time before leaving the venue.

According to Northern Health, Phase 2 clinics in Prince George are scheduled to run from March 16th to April 10th, 2021.

Vaccinations will be given at the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre.

The call centre in Vanderhoof is currently booking anybody over the age of 80 to get vaccinated at the Vanderhoof Health Unit.

Phase 2 clinics in Vanderhoof are scheduled to be running between March 30th and April 1st, 2021.

Northern Health is urging anyone looking for more information on the call centres to visit the COVID-19 Community vaccine schedule on the health authority’s website. 

The following Northern Health communities will also be making the extension to seniors over 80 on Wednesday:

  • Burns Lake
  • Chetwynd
  • Dawson Creek
  • Dease Lake
  • Fort St.James
  • Fort St.John
  • Fraser Lake
  • Granisle
  • Hazelton
  • Houston
  • Hudson’s Hope
  • Kitimat
  • Mackenzie
  • Haida Gwaii
  • Mcbride
  • Prince Rupert
  • Quesnel
  • Smithers
  • Southside
  • Stewart
  • Terrace
  • Tumbler Ridge
  • Valemount
  • Queen Charlotte.

Dease Lake, Granisle, Haida Gwaii, Stewart and Queen Charlotte will be accepting bookings for community members born in or before 2003 (18+) starting on March 15th.

Fort Nelson will be accepting bookings for community members born in or before 1961 (60+) beginning tomorrow (Wednesday).
