(Andrew Copp scored 4 goals and Connor Hellebuyck made 38 saves for the Jets, who swept both games this week in Vancouver as Winnipeg won 4-0 on Monday. The (16-18-3) Canucks are off until Wednesday when they host Calgary before heading out on a 7-game road trip)

WHL:

The Prince George Cougars have named defenceman Jack Sander as their 26th Captain in team history.

The 20-year-old Sander is entering his 4th and final season with the team.

The Cougars start their 24-game B.C. Division mini-season this weekend. They open against the Blazers Saturday night at 7:00 in Kamloops.

 

BCHL:

The Prince George Spruce Kings will open their 20-game BCHL schedule on Saturday, April 3rd against the Chilliwack Chiefs. They will conclude the five-week season on Sunday, May 9th also against the Chiefs. The Spruce Kings play the Chiefs and the Merritt Centennials 10 times each with all games starting at 5 p.m. at the Chilliwack Coliseum.

Strike notice issued for Regional District employees

More public employees in the Prince George area could be striking soon. As of noon today (Wednesday), CUPE 1699, representing employees of the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George has issued 72-hour strike notice.
