(Logan Stankoven opened and closed the scoring. He notched the game-winner midway through the third period snapping a 4-4 tie. The Cougars, in their first game in over a year, held period leads of 3-1 and 4-3. Next up for the Cougars a game Monday night in Kelowna against the (0-1) Victoria Royals)

BCHL:

The Prince George Spruce Kings will open their 20-game BCHL schedule on Saturday against the Chilliwack Chiefs. They will conclude the five-week season on Sunday, May 9th also against the Chiefs. The Spruce Kings play the Chiefs and the Merritt Centennials 10 times each with all games starting at 5 p.m. at the Chilliwack Coliseum.
