Local lingerie business teams up with downtown community to create pop-up event

Modern Match Lingerie will be helping local women discover their bra size with a downtown event next weekend.

On April 9th-10th, the online start-up company will be joining forces with several local businesses including Simply Beautiful Jewelry Design and Clothing to bring awareness to an issue many people across the community face.

“A big issue I see is a lot of women come to me and say they want to buy from me but they don’t know their bra size,” explained Shauna Allen, owner of Modern Match Lingerie.

A 2008 study published in the Journal, Chiropractic & Osteopathy, found that 80% of women are wearing the wrong bra size.

Allen says that this issue stems from the lack of regulation in bra sizing, meaning sizes aren’t always the same from one store to another.

This often causes confusion for consumers, leaving them uncomfortable and dealing with bruises and back pain, according to Allen.

“So we decided we could offer this bra fitting event for people but we also thought we could involve other businesses in the downtown core to also serve their clients in new ways,” she explained.

Birch and Boar, Shhh Boutique and Walk Rite Shoes are just a few of the small businesses that will be showcased at the event.

The pop-up small business event will be held at 421 Dominion Street from 11 am to 5 pm.

“Coming together to support small businesses that support each other is really what Prince George is all about, you can come down and meet the small business owners and everybody has their own unique offering,” added Allen.
