Market mayhem hits Prince George

A Prince George marketplace will be able to keep its location for another year.

After a lengthy discussion, city council has decided to allow the Wilson Square Community Market Association to operate on 3rd Avenue in front of the courthouse.

This comes as a city report would have had the Wilson Square and Prince George Farmers Market be under one roof and Wilson Square President Mara Pennock says there are many issues both sides need to deal with.

“It’s something that we will work on with the membership at the Wilson Square market to see if we can resolve some things with the farmers market,” says Pennock, “that where its been forced to at this point.”

But Prince George Farmer’s Market President Randall Stasiuk says this leaves them with many uncertainties.

“Last year we held onto it, we moved because of a vote we were hoping this year to use the old Norgate site, but right now that site is not in a state of use.”

Both organizations decided to split off because of where they wanted to hold the market.
