Trench Brewing, The White Goose Bistro, North 54 and The Firm Lounge and Grill won’t be charging a delivery fee tonight as they participate in ‘Operation Takeout’.
The BC Resources Coalition (BCRC) is teaming up with the restaurants to help alleviate some financial pressure created by the current provincial health protocols surrounding indoor dining.
This evening (Saturday), around 15 volunteers from the BCRC will be driving delivery orders for the restaurants.
By volunteering, the cost of labour for delivery drivers or third-party delivery services such as Skip the Dishes will be eliminated to maximize the restaurant’s profits for the night.
“It really touches my heart that people are coming out to volunteer their time to make sure we have at least one huge successful night,” said Carey-Lynn Campioni, Co-Owner of North 54.
There is only one Operation Take-Out night planned for now, however, Campioni says if tonight is a success they’re looking to host Operation Take-Out every Saturday night.
Meanwhile, all tips will be donated back to the restaurants and their staff.
“It seems like a pretty good initiative, “said Terence Checkley, Front of House Manager at the Firm Lounge and Grill, “it’s nice because we’re going to get away from the huge markups that you get from working with Skip the Dishes or similar platforms.”
To support Operation Take-Out, contact the restaurant directly this evening to place a delivery order.
