The Northern Lights were dancing around the skies of Prince George and Northern BC last night (Friday).

PG residents posted their shots from areas across the city including the airport, College Heights and Cottonwood Island Park on the Hell Yeah Prince George Facebook page.

According to the Aurora Forecast, if the weather permits, good northern lights displays could be visible directly overhead in most northern communities this weekend.

The site predicts a high chance of visibility tonight (Saturday), noting there is, “a good chance of isolated minor auroral substorms and favourable conditions for major aurora activity.”

For the best viewing experience, the government of Canada website recommends choosing a viewing location free of light pollution or watching from inside using the AuroraMAX observatory page.

It also notes that the Aurora Borealis appears a few hours after sunset, and tends to become more intense around midnight.
