Update: Driver involved in suspicious incident near elementary school identified

1:35 pm

Prince George RCMP have identified the driver of the tan coloured vehicle.

Constable Jennifer Cooper says the driver and the youth knew each other, but the youth did not recognize the driver out of context.

Earlier:

RCMP are looking for the driver of a tan coloured vehicle with tinted windows after a suspicious incident near Van Bien Elementary yesterday afternoon (Monday).

Police received a report that between the hours of 2:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. a young child was walking home from school on the 300 block of Wilson Crescent.

The youth reports a vehicle approached him and the male driver attempted to get the youth into his vehicle.

However, the vehicle drove off when an older student approached, offering to walk the youth home.

Investigators are asking anyone who noticed a vehicle matching the description, or anyone who may have a video recording of the incident to come forward.

Police would like to speak with the driver of the vehicle and encourage them to self-identify.
