It’s tough sledding for the Prince George Cougars these days.
The team’s losing streak extended to four games on Friday after dropping a 5-1 decision to the Kelowna Rockets at Prospera Place.
San Jose Sharks prospect and skilled power-forward Dillion Hamaliuk opened the scoring for Kelowna jamming home a rebound past PG netminder Taylor Gauthier for a 1-0 edge at intermission.
PG kept it clean for the first sixteen minutes of the middle frame and eventually got on even terms as a Majid Kaddoura point blast redirected off the hip of Jonny Hooker and into the back of the net.
However, the roof caved in once again for the Cougars allowing two goals in 47 seconds.
Tyson Feist delivered a slap shot from the point past a screened Gauthier while Dylan Wightman was the recipient of a Mark Liwiski feed, extending the Rockets lead to 3-1.
Former Vernon Viper Alex Swetlikoff continued the offensive onslaught rifling a shot on the power-play further putting the game out of reach.

Jake Poole added insult to injury notching his first of the shortened season at 17:37 of the third period.
The Rockets outshot the Cats 36-25.
The Cougars went 1-for-5 on the power-play while Rockets earned a 1-for-4 mark.
Former Cariboo Cougar and local product Scott Cousins recorded two shots on goal for Kelowna.
With the win, the Rockets improve to 4-2-0-0, two points back of PG for third spot in the BC Division.

The Cougars drop to 4-7-1-1 and are eight back of Vancouver for second place.
Next up for PG, is a Monday tilt against the Victoria Royals 1-11-1-0 from the Sandman Centre in Kamloops.
