New ‘rural urbanity’ brand for Prince George

Late last year, Tourism Prince George has launched a new brand that aims to strike a balance between outdoor adventure and urban amenities.

Described by the company as ‘rural urbanity,’ the brand tries to showcase everything that makes Prince George unique.

“As a destination, Prince George has always done a good job showcasing our proximity to the outdoors and natural landscapes but has been less focused on the city aspect,” said Tourism PG CEO Tracey McBride.

“The new branding has allowed us to get more in touch with our urban authenticity and cultural offerings.”

Tourism Prince George hired 6ixSigma Productions to create an urban video, and local artist Evann Campbell was commissioned to design a limited edition t-shirt.

The video follows her journey of being inspired to design an image that reflects the geography of Prince George, but also the people that are intrinsic to the community.

What emerged was a video highlighting her passion for downtown, the arts, and Prince George as a whole.

“Having worked downtown, having been involved with a lot of small businesses and then becoming a small business myself, it was important to me to recognize the culture of our downtown. I wanted to express those connections, those unique relationships that we all have with these amazing people behind them,” said Campbell.

Campbell, owner of Silky Hen Design has worked on several projects for local businesses, including Betulla Burning, Birch & Boar and musician Danny Bell.
