WHL: (BC Division)

The (6-7-2-1) Prince George Cougars, with six games remaining, play the (10-7) Vancouver Giants tonight at 6:00 in Kamloops. The Cougars are coming off Friday’s 2-1 overtime loss to the Victoria Royals. The Giants beat the Royals 5-4 in a shootout Saturday. In another Saturday game, the (13-4) Kamloops Blazers got by the (8-2-1) Kelowna Rockets 4-3 in overtime.

Merritt Centennials  6  Prince George Spruce Kings  5
(The loss ended the Spruce Kings six-game win streak. It was the first time in eight meetings that Merritt has beaten Prince George. The (11-4-0-1) Spruce Kings, with four games left, lead the 3-team Chilliwack Pod by three points over the (10-6) Chiefs. The Spruce Kings play Chilliwack Monday at 5:00. Prince George will also play Merritt Wednesday and Friday before concluding its season on Sunday, May 9th against Chilliwack)

IIHF U18 World Hockey Championship: (in Plano, Texas)

Canada  5  Belarus  2
(Canada finished Group A in first place with a perfect 4-0 record. Team Canada will play (1-2-1) Czech Republic in the quarterfinals Monday (1 PM PT) in Frisco, Texas. The semifinals will be played Wednesday followed by the Gold Medal game on Thursday. Goalie Tyler Brennan of the PG Cougars is on the Canadian team but has not yet played)

The (26-38) Raptors, with just 8 games left, visit the LA Lakers tonight and the LA Clippers Tuesday.
