Prince George Cougars  5  Vancouver Giants  2
(The Cougars took control early by scoring the game’s first three goals in the opening six minutes, two of them by Koehn Ziemmer. Taylor Gauthier made 29 saves as Vancouver outshot Prince George 31-16. The (7-7-2-1) Cougars, with five games remaining, play the (8-2-1) Rockets Tuesday in Kelowna and the (10-8) Giants again Wednesday in Kamloops. Prince George is riding a 4-game point streak with the only blemish, a 2-1 overtime loss Friday to the Victoria Royals)

BCHL:

The Prince George Spruce Kings play the Chilliwack Chiefs tonight at 5:00 with first place on the line in the Chilliwack Pod. The (11-4-0-1) Spruce Kings are coming off Saturday’s 6-5 loss to the Merritt Centennials which ended their six-game win streak. The (11-6) Chiefs beat Merritt 4-3 on Sunday. Prince George is a point ahead of Chilliwack. The Spruce Kings have four games remaining and the Chiefs three. P.G. will also battle Merritt Wednesday and Friday before concluding its season on Sunday against Chilliwack.

NHL: 

(North Division) 

The Vancouver Canucks, who have lost their last four, host the Edmonton Oilers tonight and Tuesday. The (19-23-3) Canucks have 11 games remaining. There are 14 Monday games in the NHL in total which also includes Toronto at Montreal and Winnipeg at Ottawa.

IIHF U18 World Hockey Championship: (Saturday in Plano, Texas)

Canada  5  Belarus  2
(Canada finished Group A in first place with a perfect 4-0 record. Team Canada will play (1-2-1) the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals today (1 p.m. PT) in Frisco, Texas. The semifinals will be played Wednesday followed by the Gold Medal game on Thursday. Goalie Tyler Brennan of the PG Cougars is on the Canadian team but has not yet played)
