Dawson Creek RCMP investigating suspicious incident after body was found on Highway 2

The Dawson Creek RCMP were called to Highway 2 and Clark Road in Pouce Coupe after a body was found in the area on Sunday morning around 9 am.

The matter is now being treated as a suspicious death and BC RCMP North District Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation.

“Investigators are working closely with the BC Coroners Service in an effort to determine the identity of the deceased and to confirm the cause of death,” said North District RCMP Corporal Madonna Saunderson.

Meanwhile, Dawson Creek RCMP are also investigating a vehicle fire that occurred the same morning the body was found but occurred just after 5 am on 198 Road, Pouce Coupe.

The fire occurred approximately 8km away from where the body was located.

Saunderson says that it is too early to link the fire to the person’s death, but they are seeking additional information of the timelines.

“If you saw, or know the whereabouts of a 2002 white Pontiac Grand Am in the Pouce Coupe area, between Saturday May 8, at 5 p.m. and Sunday May 9, at 5:15 a.m., we are asking you to call police,” added Saunderson.

Anyone with more information on either incidents or dashcam footage of the area at the time is being asked to contact the Dawson Creek RCMP.
