Prince George COVID-19 cases continue to flatline

Cases of COVID-19 being identified in the Prince George Local Health area are remaining stagnant after seeing a considerable drop.

Between May 2nd to 8th, the area saw 28 cases, only two more than the week prior.

The BCCDC is reporting five to ten cases are being identified per 100,000 people in the area.

Prince George’s Western neighbors, the Nechako and Quesnel areas saw 6 cases each during this time frame.

Nechako saw 3 fewer cases than the week before, while Quesnel saw a considerable drop of 8 cases.

Cases in the Peace River North and South regions are dropping as well, seeing 45 and 34 cases, respectively, while 5 cases were identified in Fort Nelson for the second week in a row.

This decline comes not long after immunizations ramped up in Dawson Creek, Fort St.John and the Fort Nelson population area as they have been identified as high transmission neighborhoods in those regions.

It was also a milestone for Prince Rupert as the area saw only one case, this comes as the region was battling extremely high case counts for weeks.

Meanwhile, the Cariboo/Chilcotin saw 2 cases during this time frame, which is three fewer than the week prior.
