The David Douglas Botanical Garden Society is celebrating 30 years in Prince George.
It was created in 1991 with the idea to build a northern botanical garden in PG.
Volunteers used contributions from benefactors and corporate donors to complete the Phase I Education Display Garden in front of UNBC.
“Our volunteers work tirelessly to maintain the Education Display Garden not only weekly but also through monthly work bees,” said DDBGS President Linda Naess. “That isn’t all we do though. Our team is busy all year long organizing lectures and preparing for our seed and plant sales and so much more.”
The existing David Douglas Botanical Garden was developed in front of UNBC on 2.6 acres of land, which is open all year round and is wheelchair accessible.
In celebration of 30 years, the society will be offering a plant sale at UNBC from May 21st to May 24th from 10 am until 4 pm.
Since public health measures are being taken, 30-minute appointments are being scheduled, which can be booked for a maximum of 2 people.
More information on the sale can be found on the David Douglas Botanical Garden Society website.
