Indigenous Pop-up clinic in PG vaccinates nearly 1,100 people

The Urban and Away from Home Indigenous Vaccination Clinic held at the House of Ancestors in Prince George was a success.

Just under 11-hundred people were vaccinated at the clinic with 243 of those considered walk-ins.

Julie Morrison is the Acting Executive Director of First Nations Health Authority who recently spoke to MyPGNow.com.

“Our goal was to have low-barrier access to the vaccine, which really made a difference for some people who may not have had a vaccine had they not come to the House of Ancestors.”

She added the feedback from the public was quite positive.

“An individual let us know that he felt more comfortable coming to somewhere that he already knew and had been before. That all makes a difference when you are going into an environment that you are not quite sure of.”

The clinic ran on select days between May 11th and 19th and was jointly run by the FNHA, Northern Health, and Carrier Sekani Family Service.
