Masich Place Stadium awarded for its recent renovations

The Bill Woycik Outstanding Facility Award has been given to PG for the improvements made to Masich Place.

New features of the stadium include:

  • Interior lights being swapped out for LEDs with motion sensors
  • LEDs for the scoreboard as well as the field lighting
  • Universal washrooms and larger change room capacity
  • Better wheelchair accessibility

The award is handed out by the Recreational Facilities Association of British Columbia to facilities that feature changes such as energy management, innovation to design, or revenue generation.

Masich Place’s reno was a $7.5 million project that used grant funding from the UCBM Federal Gas Tax Strategic Priorities Fund ($3.2 million), NDIT grant ($250,000), and the federal Enabling Accessibility Fund ($141,455).

The award itself was named after City of Prince George employee Bill Woycik.

Prince George City Council has decided to wait for more information before making a decision on hosting watch parties for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.At Wednesday's meeting, City Council discussed a notice of motion put forward by Councillors Ron Polillo and Cori Ramsay, directing staff to work with a few local organizations to plan and execute outdoor watch parties to be held at Canada Games Plaza.
