PG Cougars Charity Golf Tournament returning next month

The Prince George Cougars Charity Golf Tournament is coming back.

It is slated for Saturday, July 10th at the PG Golf & Curling Club.

Last year’s event was cancelled due to the pandemic.

“I’m really proud of and grateful to everyone involved in helping to ensure this important tournament is going to go ahead this year, and despite some huge hurdles we have had to overcome to make it work, I’m confident that our golf community will rally behind what is sure to be a fun tournament,” said Cougars’ Vice President, Business Andy Beesley.

“Most importantly, we’re raising much-needed money for the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation, and the Cougars will do everything we can to continue to support this important work.”

All proceeds from this year’s tournament will go towards cardiac care for the city’s University Hospital.

The golf tournament tallied $75,000 in 2019 and since its inception, $558,000 has been raised for health care equipment in our region.

An exciting new feature will see golfers have an opportunity to shoot for a million dollars.

Alumni confirmed for this year’s tournament include former NHL defencemen Eric Brewer and Dan Hamhuis.
