A community has banded together in the search of a man that went into the Natley River on Sunday.
Search and Rescue called off the search for Robin Heathcliff yesterday but Chief Martin Louie of the Nadleh Whut’en first nation says they are not giving up;
“We are maintaining our own search, a lot of people from the village are experienced water people … we have people spotting through the canyons. Today we ended up with 8 boats that are going to be going up and down the river.”
He added that an RCMP helicopter was also helping out today, although Fort Fraser RCMP had officially called off the search yesterday and opened a missing person’s file.
Louie says they are looking for donations of food, fuel or money to help stage the search; anyone that wants to help out can contact the band.
