A six-day stretch of blistering temperatures in Prince George is about to get underway.
A high of 30-degrees is anticipated for today as a new record daily high could be reached.
The current mark of 30.7 degrees was set back in 1992.
Environment Canada Meteorologist, Mike Gismondi spoke with MyPGNow.com.
“Temperatures today look to get around the 30-degree mark and then gradually warm Saturday and Sunday. We are looking at temperatures getting up to the mid-’30s by Sunday and that will continue likely through to Wednesday.”
It could get as hot as 37 degrees by Monday.
Temperatures across BC could shatter previous all-time highs for the month of June.
The BC Wildfire Service issued an open fire ban for the Prince George Fire Centre, which takes effect at noon today (Friday).
In addition, WorkSafeBC reminds workers and employers to prevent heat-related illness while working outdoors.
