New COVID-19 testing program coming to YXS

COVID-19 testing options could be coming to the Prince George Airport as early as next week.

YXS is expecting a COVID-19 Risk Mitigation and Testing Program to be offered by Whitecap Risk and Safety Consultations.

Two COVID-19 testing options will be available, a Rapid Antigen test and a Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, both of which require a nasal swab.

The Rapid Antigen test provides test results in as little as 30 minutes and can detect specific protein fragments of the virus, whether or not the person is symptomatic.

Additionally, the Rapid Antigen test is accepted for travel into a range of countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany.

Meanwhile, the PCR test provides test results for symptomatic or asymptomatic people within 48 hours.

PCR test results are accepted for travel by most airlines and can be used for entry into most countries.

The program is already available at airports in Richmond, Kelowna, Nanaimo, and Terrace.
