PG Cougars:

The Prince George Cougars made two selections in the 2021 Canadian Hockey League (CHL) Import Draft today (Wednesday).

With their first selection, 23rd overall, the Cougars drafted 2003-born forward Liekit Reichle, who led his Swiss junior team in scoring with 75 points in 43 games. Reichle also played for Switzerland at the 2021 World Under-18 Hockey Championship in Texas and registered one goal in five games.

With their second pick, 104th overall, Prince George selected 2004-born defenceman Jozef Viliam Kmec. The 17-year-old Kmec played for the Slovakian U-18 National Team during the 2020-21 season.

NHL:

Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers is the MVP of the NHL by a unanimous vote. McDavid averaged nearly two points per game to win the scoring race by 21 points. He is just the second unanimous Hart selection — joining Wayne Gretzky in 1982.

Game 2 in the Stanley Cup final will start just after 5:00 tonight (Wednesday) in Tampa Bay. The defending champion Lightning took the opener 5-1 over the Montreal Canadiens. The best-of-seven series will shift to Montreal for Game 3 on Friday. Jon Cooper of Prince George is the head coach of the Lightning.
