NHL:
The Seattle Kraken will select one player from 30 NHL teams in the expansion draft on Wednesday. The Vegas Golden Knights are exempt from the draft. Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price is among several star players available to Seattle. There are reports that the 33-year-old Price will see a doctor in regards to a knee injury that could possibly lead to surgery. Price has five years left on his contract (worth over $10 million a season) and also has an $11 million signing bonus due in September.
The vision of what the Seattle Kraken’s inaugural roster might look like has begun to take shape.

Olympics:
Men’s rugby sevens player Nathan Hirayama (who is from BC) and Women’s basketball player Miranda Ayim have been named Canada’s flag-bearers for the Opening Ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics. It is the first time that a pair from different sports will carry the Canadian flag into the opening ceremony which is set for Friday.
Canada is sending a team of 371 athletes (225 women and 146 men) to the Olympics. It’s the country’s largest Olympic contingent since the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Games.
Among the female athletes: track star Regan Yee of Hazelton who will compete in the 3000 Metre Steeplechase and Kayla Moleschi of Williams Lake who is part of the women’s rugby team.
The Tokyo Olympics run through to August 8th.
What an incredible honour and pleasure to be sharing this experience with @NHirayama10.
