Olympics:
The Canadian women’s soccer team tied host Japan 1-1 on the opening day of the competition at the Olympics.
Christine Sinclair scored for Canada in her 300th appearance with the team.
In women’s softball, Canada won its opener at the Tokyo Games, 4-0 over Mexico.
Men’s rugby sevens player Nathan Hirayama (who is from BC) and Women’s basketball player Miranda Ayim will be
Canada’s flag-bearers for the Opening Ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics on Friday.
Canada has sent a team of 371 athletes (225 women and 146 men) to the Olympics.
Among the female athletes: track star Regan Yee of Hazelton who will compete in the 3000 Metre Steeplechase and Kayla Moleschi of Williams Lake who is part of the women’s rugby team.
The Olympics run through to August 8th.
