UPDATE: Hwy 16 cleared after major collision

UPDATE 3:30 PM:

The Prince George RCMP report that the incident on Highway 16 W ended in one fatality.

The BC Coroners Service is currently investigating to determine all the facts.

UPDATE 2:16 PM:

Hwy 16 is now clear by Lower Mudd Road.

 

12:30 PM:

Hwy 16 by Lower Mudd Road is down to single lane alternating traffic.

11:23 AM:

Highway 16, west of Prince George by Lower Mudd Road has been shut down due to a major collision involving two vehicles and a motorcycle.

“The highway is currently closed to traffic in both directions as we conduct our investigation, and will remain so for several hours. Please make sure to check with DriveBC for further updates before heading out,” said Cst. Jennifer Cooper of the Prince George RCMP.

According to police, there is no criminality suspected in this incident.

Special Olympics BC Summer Games: The 2025 Special Olympics BC Summer Games in Prince George is officially over.

Organizers “extremely pleased” with Special Olympics BC Games

After two days of competition, the 2025 Special Olympics BC Summer Games have come to a close.  The games brought around 900 athletes to the Prince George area to compete in ten different sports on Friday and Saturday.  "With any large, large tournament like this, you're always running with your hair straight back just to get everything ready, and we certainly managed to put everything together," said Co-Chair of the Organizing Committee Lyn Hall.
