Hockey Canada has named Jon Cooper of Prince George head coach of the Canadian men’s hockey team for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. The 53-year-old Cooper has guided the Tampa Bay Lightning to back-to-back Stanley Cups. He will be joined by assistant coaches Bruce Cassidy of the Boston Bruins, Peter DeBoer of the Vegas Golden Knights, and New York Islanders bench boss Barry Trotz. A final decision still has to be made on whether NHL players will compete at next years’ Olympics. Cooper was head coach of Team Canada when they captured the silver medal at the 2017 world championship.
