Another heatwave is moving into our province, which means warmer temperatures in Prince George.
Daily highs could get as high as 33 degrees by Friday – the previous record high for August 13th is 31.9 degrees set in 1990.
Environment Canada, Meteorologist, Doug Lundquist told MyPGNow.com the warming trend isn’t much of a shock.
“I’m not surprised because the forecast was for the highly likely warmer-than average throughout the month of August. Even now, looking at the middle of August even a month ahead, the outlook is still putting us into the hot category.”
Lundquist reminds residents to pay attention to some of our most vulnerable during the next three to four days as temperatures continue to soar.
“Not everybody in the Central Interior has air conditioning. So, I want us to take care and pay attention to the vulnerable in our lives. We need to do that as a community so that we can watch out for the seniors or whoever is not able to cool off.”
The warm front is expected to break down by Sunday as the rain is expected to roll in with a predicted high of 23 degrees.
