Area restriction in place surrounding Ridgeview Creek wildfire

An area restriction has been issued for the vicinity of the Ridgeview Creek wildfire due to access & egress route concerns.

According to the BC Wildfire Service, the order reflects the continued need to protect the public in areas where there are ongoing fire suppression activities.

It will take effect tomorrow (Friday) at noon and will remain in place until September 30th or until it’s rescinded.

The blaze is located Northeast of Prince George and directly south of Tumbler Ridge.

It is currently out of control at 8 hectares and is believed to be caused by lightning.

Those found not adhering to the restriction could face a $1,150 fine.
