Valemount landslide no longer a risk

The Village of Valemount and the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George have rescinded the Swift Creek landslide Evacuation Alert.

Engineers assessed the area and advised that there was no imminent risk to public safety.

The alert was issued on July 31 and covered the northern part of the village.

Water levels for Swift Creek are still being monitored, and the public is being reminded that caution should still be exercised if using trails in the backcountry.
