City Councillor still wants changes to city pothole repair

The city’s pothole situation was addressed at Monday nights council meeting.

While the number of potholes appears to be decreasing, Councillor Brian Skakun was clear about one aspect which he believes needs addressing immediately:

“Going forward are we looking at the type of asphalt mix? What should we do, should we actually cut out the areas where there is repetitive pothole problems and fix it permanently?”

He believes a different option must be found, as the current situation is simply not sustainable.

Skakun also mentioned that the city of Edmonton has begun to use the hot asphalt method of pothole replacement, which is far cheaper than Prince Georges’ current methods. However, as it stands, Prince George gets its asphalt from local plants which close down during the winter months.

Something going on in the Prince George area you think people should know about?
