UPDATE: Fire at North Star Inn causes $200,000 in damage

UPDATE 12:22 p.m.

The Prince George Fire Rescue Service says the fire that was reported at about 7:52 am today (Saturday) caused about $200,000 in damage.

Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from a third-floor unit in the building.

Once police arrived, the remaining individuals were evacuated and fire crews acted quickly to extinguish the blaze, which was contained to the unit of origin.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the RCMP.

Update 10:08 am

RCMP confirmed no injuries were caused by the blaze.

The investigation is continuing by the RCMP.

9:12 am

Police and Fire crews are attending an incident at the North Star Inn.

A witness staying on the third floor claims smoke erupted from a room on the third floor at about 7:30 this morning, and emergency crews were on the scene immediately.
