Possible Fraser River Flooding says River Forecast Centre

There is a chance the Fraser River in Prince George could flood this year.

The Nautley and Stuart River area are seeing an elevated risk of flooding.

River Forecast Centre Hydrologist Tobi Gardner says its hard to tell how bad flooding might be in the area.

“There was a fair bit of snow and particularly at the high elevation in the Upper Fraser,” says Gardner, “because of that there is an elavated risk of flooding in and around Prince George.”

Gardner says the Nechako River has been regulated by Rio Tinto Alcan.

He says an early melt to the season could possibly mean that river levels could rise.
