Annual Fallfest event celebrates local farmers market vendors this weekend

Downtown PG’s annual Fallfest event is taking place tomorrow (Saturday).

Two farmers markets will be available, the Wilson Square Community Market and the Prince George Farmers Market, which will be setting up along 3rd Avenue at George Street and at Quebec Street from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm.

Additionally, the 4th Avenue merchants will have their own special street market from 10 am to 4 pm.

“We’ve really enjoyed being able to celebrate the markets. A lot of people don’t have it as part of their regular routine but there are some great vendors and there’s some great artisans that do participate in these markets and a lot of times you’ll see some new entrepreneurs as part of these markets,” explained Downtown PG CEO Colleen Van Mook.

The markets will be selling fresh meat, produce, and baked goods, while the Prince George Farmers Market will also be selling crafts and jewelry.

Fundraising events for the cost of long-time local farmer John Ryser’s medical bills will also take place throughout the day.

As part of Fallfest, there will also be live entertainment, activities and free pumpkins available while quantities last.

“We miss hosting our regular festivals during these different times, but we realize that downtown is still the scene for safe and fun shopping, eating, and exploring experiences for everyone”, added Van Mook.

Fallfest attendees can also enter to win one of four $100 gift cards to a downtown business of their choosing by following Downtown PG on Facebook and Instagram.

The winners will be drawn on Monday.

Parking is free on weekends, including all downtown City of Prince George parking lots and parkades.
