WHL (PG Cougars)

Prince George Cougars  5  Victoria Royals  1

The Cougars scored all five of their goals in the second period and had 13 players pick up at least one point. The same teams play again tonight in Victoria and Tuesday and Wednesday in Prince George. The Cougars penalty kill went 5-for-5 and are 21-for-22 against the Royals this season in three games. Prince George is 3-3 on the season while Victoria is last with a 1-7 record. The Cougars beat the Royals 3-1 and 4-2 on October 16th and 17th at CN Centre.

NHL: (4 Friday games with two Canadian teams in action)

The (2-2-1) Vancouver Canucks visit Seattle tonight (7:00) to conclude their season-opening 6-game road trip. This will be the first regular season home game for the Kraken.

BC Elite Hockey League:

(Cariboo Cougars U18 AAA & Northern Capitals Female U18 AAA)

The (4-4) Cariboo Cougars visit the (3-3-1-1) Fraser Valley Thunderbirds tonight at 5:00 and Sunday morning at 9:45 in Abbotsford. Both teams are tied for 6th in the 12-team league with eight points after eight games.

The (4-3-0-1) Northern Capitals have road games today and Sunday against the (2-4) Vancouver Island Seals.

BCHL (PG Spruce Kings)

The (5-1) Prince George Spruce Kings play their next two games against the (5-0) Vees; Wednesday in Prince George and Friday in Penticton.

The Spruce Kings won both of their games at the BCHL Showcase in Chilliwack: 4-1 over Wenatchee on Wednesday and 3-2 over Victoria on Thursday.

MLB: (6th game in the best-of-7 American League Championship Series)

Houston  5  Boston  0

The Astros won the ALCS 4-2 to advance to the World Series starting on Tuesday.

In the National League: Atlanta hosts the LA Dodgers tonight (5:08 PT) with the Braves ahead 3-2. If the Dodgers win, it would force a 7th and deciding game Sunday night in Atlanta.

Canada West Soccer: (UNBC Timberwolves)

The UNBC Timberwolves conclude their regular season in Canada West Soccer by hosting the Thompson Rivers Wolfpack today and Sunday at Masich Place Stadium (noon kickoff for the women and 2:15 for the men).

The UNBC men have one win, four losses, and five ties after 10 games while the UNBC women have one win, eight losses, and one tie.

CFL: (Week 12)

The B.C. Lions visit the league-leading Winnipeg Blue Bombers tonight (4:00 p.m. PT).

Other Saturday CFL games: Ottawa at Hamilton (1:00 PT) and Saskatchewan at Calgary (6:45).

Standings:

West: Winnipeg 9-1, Saskatchewan 5-4, Calgary  5-5, B.C. 4-5, and Edmonton 2-7
East:  Montreal and Toronto 6-4, Hamilton 4-5, and Ottawa 2-8.

There are 11 Sunday games in the NFL including Cincinnati at Baltimore, Kansas City at Tennessee and Indianapolis at San Francisco.

The Seattle Seahawks host New Orleans Monday night.

The 6-0 Arizona Cardinals are the only NFL team with a perfect record.

Five teams are 5-1: Baltimore, Dallas, Green Bay, LA Rams, and Tampa Bay.

The 0-6 Detroit Lions are the only winless team.

Strike notice issued for Regional District employees

More public employees in the Prince George area could be striking soon. As of noon today (Wednesday), CUPE 1699, representing employees of the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George has issued 72-hour strike notice.
