PG City staff and contractors will need to be fully vaccinated by December

The City of Prince George announced that all staff and contractors will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by December 20th.

Staff were notified yesterday (Tuesday) of the vaccine mandate, and it aligns with the provincial mandate, as well as Dr. Bonnie Henry’s recommendations.

“The City’s approach to the COVID-19 pandemic has always been with an abundance of caution and with the protection of staff and citizens the top priority. This new administrative requirement ensures we are continuing to do the best we can to keep our staff and citizens safe,” said City Manager Walter Babicz.

Public areas of City Hall, including Council Chambers, remain open to the public, regardless of vaccination status.

“Getting vaccinated is the most important step we can take to protect our families, our coworkers, and our community and to alleviate the incredible burden our healthcare system is under. I am pleased to say that every member of Council has already taken steps to protect our community by becoming fully vaccinated,” said Mayor Lyn Hall.

Safety measures currently being implemented by the City include:
