BCHL: (PG Spruce Kings)

West Kelowna Warriors  3  Prince George Spruce Kings  2

It was the first loss in five home games for the Spruce Kings, before 595 fans at the RMCA. The (7-3) Spruce Kings will host the  (5-3-1) Trail Smoke Eaters Friday and Saturday.

WHL: (PG Cougars)

The (5-4) Prince George Cougars play their next two games on the road.

The Cougars visit the (4-2-1) Vancouver Giants Friday in Langley and the (4-3) Rockets Saturday in Kelowna.

The Rockets beat the Giants 7-6 in overtime last night (Wednesday).

The next home games for the Cougars will be on Tuesday and Wednesday against Vancouver.

NHL:

(4 Wednesday games)

Edmonton  5  Nashville  2

Leon Draisaitl tallied twice and added an assist to take over the NHL scoring lead.

The Vancouver Canucks host Nashville Friday night at 7:00.

The (4-5-1) Canucks are 1-3 on a 7-game homestand.

BC Elite Hockey League: (Cariboo Cougars U18 AAA & Northern Capitals Female U18 AAA)

The (5-5-1-1) Cariboo Cougars visit the (8-4) Greater Vancouver Canadians Saturday night at 5:00 and Sunday afternoon at 1:30 in Richmond. Cariboo is in 7th place in the 10-team league

The (7-4-0-1) Northern Capitals host the (5-5) Vancouver Island Seals Friday night at 6:45 at Kin 1 in the first of a triple-header. They also meet Saturday night at 6:00 at Kin 2 and Sunday morning at 8:15 at Kin 1. The Capitals are in 2nd place in the 5-team league.

Canada West basketball: (UNBC Timberwolves)

The (1-1) UNBC Timberwolves have their home openers this weekend in Canada West basketball.

UNBC will host the Thompson Rivers University (TRU) WolfPack on Friday night at 6:00 (women) and 8:00 (men) and Saturday at 4:00 and 6:00 PM.

The Timberwolves are 1-1 in both the men’s and women’s divisions.

The TRU women are 0-2 and the TRU men are 1-1.

NBA:

Toronto Raptors  109  Washington Wizards  100

The (6-3) Raptors have won five straight and will host the (5-4) Cleveland Cavaliers Friday night (4:30 PT).

NFL: (Week 9)

Jordan Love will start at quarterback for the Green Bay Packers when they visit the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Love replaces Aaron Rodgers, who has been placed in the NFL’s COVID Protocol.

The 9th week of the NFL season starts tonight (5:2o PT) with the (2-5) New York Jets at the (3-5) Indianapolis Colts.

A dozen more games will be played Sunday, including Green Bay at Kansas City, Arizona at San Francisco, and Tennessee at LA Rams.

B.C. Lions  at  Hamilton  (Friday 4:00 PT)

The (4-7) Lions have lost their last five.

Saskatchewan  at  Edmonton  (Friday 6:45)

The Elks are riding a six-game losing streak.

Toronto  at  Ottawa  (Saturday 1:00 PT)
Montreal  at  Winnipeg  (Saturday 4:00)

West: Winnipeg 10-1, Saskatchewan 7-4, Calgary  6-6, B.C. 4-7, and Edmonton 2-8
East:  Toronto 7-4, Montreal and Hamilton 6-5, and Ottawa 2-10.
