A new play is coming to Prince George to raise money for the community and bring the arts to the city.

Anne Laughlin will be producing the piece, and Ted Price will direct and design it.

They announced that On Golden Pond would be their next project and that all proceeds will be donated to the Prince George Hospice and Palliative Care Society.

The money will go into an endowment fund under the trusteeship of the Prince George Community Foundation.

“And of course joining the project will be an exceptional team of over 50 volunteers who make it all possible,” said Laughlin.

Laughlin and Price said they are trying to be flexible with many aspects of the production, as they anticipate COVID-19 could be an issue.

“We come to the caveats, the COVID wild cards for the project. First, we’re seeing the date to start the performances as a target. We’re targeting February 16th for the first public performance,” said Price.

He added that the final date for the production is targetted at March 13th, but said that those dates could move.

“The venue is to be announced, and this will depend on future COVID circumstances so that we can ensure safety for everyone,” said Laughlin.

She added that they’re hoping to run the play every night except Mondays, plus Sunday matinees.

Tickets will be $35, and they’ll become available in January at Books and Company.

There’s no target for this fundraiser, but they hope to exceed their last production, The Birds and the Bees, which raised $106,264.04.

The production will raise funds through ticket sales, sponsorships, donations, concessions, and an on-site raffle.
