PG Local Health area continues to drop in COVID-19 cases

The Prince George Local Health area saw 110 COVID-19 cases between October 31st to November 6th, which is down from the 168 seen between October 24th to the 30th.

That number has been dropping over the past month, with this being the fourth week in a row of our weekly case count lowering.

According to the COVID-19 Situation Report, hospitalizations across the province have stabilized with 295 people on average being admitted weekly.

ICU admissions have also stabilized, with 70 admissions per week on average.

In the Northern Health region only the Kitimat area (91%) meets the provincial average (86.4%) for those 12 and older who are fully vaccinated.

The Prince George area has an 80% immunization rate, with the lowest in Northern Health being Peace River North (62%) and Fort Nelson (61%).

The Nechako and Quesnel regions saw a slight uptick in cases since last week, but the second dose immunization rate has been rising since October 12th:

  • Nechako- from 62% to 67%
  • Quesnel- from 67% to 71%
  • Prince George- from 75% to 80%
  • Peace River North- from 55% to 62%
  • Fort Nelson- from 55% to 61%
