News PG RCMP arrest protester following assault at courthouse SHARE ON: Brendan Pawliw, staff Wednesday, Nov. 24th, 2021 Prince George Courthouse (MyPGNow.com staff) An assault at the Prince George Courthouse led to an arrest by the RCMP. Just before 3:00 p.m. on Monday, officers attended the courthouse for a report of an assault on a peace officer by a protestor in relation to the Coastal Gas Link injunction. Witnesses stated the woman became agitated and struck a Deputy Sheriff. Police arrested her where she remained in custody until attending court the following day (Tuesday). The B.C. Prosecution Service declined to approve charges at that time and requested additional information. The investigation remains ongoing. Police noted protests around the detachment and courthouse ranging from half a dozen to thirty persons over the weekend in support of protestors transported to Prince George from the New Hazelton area. “As we continue to see in Prince George, the protests here remained peaceful. We support the public exercising their constitutional rights to express themselves peacefully,” stated Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer.
