Thunderbirds fly past a Cougars team that provided little offence

The Prince George Cougars played a game south of the border for the first time in 21 months (February 23rd, 2020).

It did not go well for the Cougars, who dropped a 3-1 decision Tuesday night to the (13-6-1) Seattle Thunderbirds before 2,339 fans in Kent, Washington.

The game was tied 1-1 after one before the Thunderbirds put the game away with a pair of goals in the second period.

Prince George is 0-11 this season when trailing after 40 minutes.

The only goal for the Cats came in the final minute of the first by Carter MacAdams.

Taylor Gauthier took the loss in net with 30 saves as Seattle outshot Prince George 33-15, including 24-9 over the final two periods.

Neither team scored on the power-play (Seattle 0/6 & P.G. 0/2).

The (7-12) Cougars, who went just 2-8 in the month of November, have lost six of their last seven and are 0-2 on a stretch of six straight games on the road.

P.G. will visit the (7-10-2-1) Portland Winterhawks tonight, the (5-10-2-1) Spokane Chiefs Friday, and (4-11-2) Tri-City Americans on Saturday.

The Cougars are 4th in the B.C. Division, and 7th in the Western Conference standings, three points behind Portland, seven back of Vancouver, and eight behind Kelowna.
