Carrier Sekani Family Services provides updated guidance on booster shots

Carrier Sekani Family Services provided further clarification in regards to its vaccination clinic today (Friday) in Prince George.

Anyone looking to get a booster shot can only receive it a minimum of six months after their second dose.

In addition, eligible people 12 and older can receive their 1st, 2nd COVID-19 shots, as well as the annual flu shot during the clinic.

Both Pfizer and Moderna will be available, and you can get both your flu shot and COVID-19 shot at the same time due to them not interfering with each other.

No appointments are necessary, but you will have to bring your ID for verification.

The clinic is being held at 987 – 4th avenue until 3:30 PM.

Here is an updated statement

• The booster shot is different from a third dose:
• A third dose (NOT the booster) is currently only offered, with a physician recommendation, to those who are medically vulnerable
• Most people are getting the booster shot, which is a smaller dose of the COVID-19 vaccine meant to give your immune system a jumpstart.
• Everyone is eligible for the booster shot – however, only after a MINIMUM of six months after your second dose.

Earlier today, Canada’s National Advisory Committee on Immunization mentioned Canadians ages 50 and over should be offered a COVID-19 vaccine booster.

The NACI added boosters can also be offered to people ages 18 to 49 at least six months after their second shot.

The shots are strongly recommended for other groups including adults living in long-term care homes or other congregate living settings and all frontline healthcare workers having direct in-person contact with patients.
