Fraser Institute ranks BC schools

rankings

The Fraser Institute has released its elementary school rankings for BC.

French immersion Lac de Bois is Prince George’s top ranked school with a strong score of 8.1, good for 105th province wide.

Immaculate Conception and Peden Hill rounded out the top three in PG with scores of 7.5 and 6.8 respectively.

With the exception of the Aboriginal Choice Nusdeh Yoh school, Quinson Elementary sits at the bottom of the barrel scoring 1.7, ranked 967 out of 978 across the province.

But School Trustee Tim Bennett says you shouldn’t read into the rankings too much

“I think it’s about finding a school environment that is right for your family, not necessarily one that may rank higher than another in one certain sample.”

He added that the report is flawed in his opinion.

“If a school is coming from a vulnerable neighbourhood, its never going to rank well in that system, despite the efforts that are happening at the school and the community.”

The full provincial rankings can be found here.
