New COVID-19 cases on the decline in Prince George area

The BC Centre for Disease Control is reporting a decrease in new cases for the Prince George local health area (LHA).

Between November 28th and December 4th, there were 76 new cases reported in the area. The week before (November 21st to 27th), 97 new cases were reported in the Prince George LHA.

Since January 1st, 2020, to November 30th, 2021 a cumulative 4838 cases have been reported in the Prince George’s LHA.

The BCCDC’s latest data shows 88% of eligible over the age of 12 in the Prince George’s LHA have received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, which is a one percent increase from the week before. 82% have received a second dose, no change from the previous week.

5% of eligible people between the ages of 5 and 11 have now had their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. In addition, 47% of eligible people 70 and older in the Prince George Local Health Area have now received a booster shot.

The Prince George Spruce Kings scored early and often in a 4-1 win over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. Dracen Campbell got the 1,009 fans at Kopar Memorial Arena in to the game early, opening the scoring for the Spruce Kings just 4:08 into the first.
