That’s the advice from Environment Canada for anyone spending Christmas in Prince George this year.
Overnight lows are expected to reach -35 by Christmas Day evening.
Meteorologist, Doug Lundquist spoke with MyPGNow.com.
“Record lows for this time of year around Christmas time are in the minus -40 to -45 degree range so we won’t be quite there but we certainly will be into the arctic air.”
“The arctic air is going to move in with a vengeance. We are forecasting Christmas Day night and into Boxing Day minus 35 temperatures. The coldest time will be when you wake up (On Boxing Day).”
A blast of snow is also scheduled for the northern capital with up to 10 centimetres anticipated for tomorrow (Tuesday).
“We could get several centimetres, probably five to ten in the valley bottoms easily and maybe more even in higher terrain with 10 to 20 centimetres possibly. If you are heading to the coast, it will be nightmare conditions with freezing and wet snow in several places.”
Daytime highs of -10 and -12 degrees are being predicted for tomorrow (Tuesday) and Wednesday.
