Cougars select Leppard & Harkins in the WHL Draft

–The Prince George Cougars selected nine players in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft: five forwards, three defencemen and a goalie. Five of the players are from BC, two from Minnesota and one each from Saskatchewan and Alberta.

The Cougars chose a player from the Western Canadian Bantam AAA Champion North Shore Winter Club in each of the first three rounds.

Prince George took left winger Jackson Leppard with their first pick, 8th overall. The 6-foot-1, 180 pound Leppard scored 37 goals and added 48 assists for 75 points in 51 games this season.

With their second round pick, 28th overall, the Cougars selected defenceman Jonas Harkins. Jonas is the son of Cougars General Manager, Todd Harkins, and the younger brother of Cats forward Jansen Harkins. The 6’2”, 190 pound Harkins notched 12 points (three goals) and 22 penalty minutes.

In the third round, (65th overall) the Cougars picked right winger Tyler Ho. In 64 games, Ho scored 30 goals and added 57 assists for 87 points in addition to 37 penalty minutes.

–Only one Prince George Minor Hockey player was selected in the WHL Bantam Draft. Defenceman Brevin Gervais was chosen by the Calgary Hitmen in the 4th round, 86th overall.
