World Junior Hockey: 

Due to a number of positive COVID-19 cases, the remainder of the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship has been scrapped.

16-year-old Connor Bedard tied a Canadian record by scoring four goals.

WHL:

Everett Silvertips  6  Prince George Cougars  5  (OT)

Alex Swetlikoff  scored his second goal of the game at 2:15 of overtime.

The Cougars erased a 4-2 second period deficit to earn a point before 2,052 fans at CN Centre.

Koehn Ziemmer tied the game at 4 early in the third and then set up Riley Heidt to give P.G. a brief 5-4 lead.

The (13-15-1) Cougars host the (22-6-2-1) Silvertips again tonight at 7:00.

Prince George is 7th in the Western Conference standings, two points behind Vancouver, and three ahead of Victoria.

Prior to the game, the Cougars were involved in a three-way deal that also involved the Saskatoon Blades and the Medicine Hat Tigers.

The Cougars received 17-year-old forwards Carlin Dezainde and Cayden Glover, a 2nd round pick in 2023 (from MH), 3rd round pick 2023 (from Sktn) and a 7th round pick in 2025 (from Sktn).

In exchange, forward Kyren Gronick was dealt to the Blades along with defenceman Ryan Nolan (via Medicine Hat) and a 4th Round Pick (from Medicine Hat).

NHL:

The (14-15-2) Vancouver Canucks, who are 6-0 under coach Bruce Boudreau, visit the Anaheim Ducks tonight at 7:30.

BCHL:

The Prince George Spruce Kings return to action with road games at the (8-10-4-1) Wenatchee Wild on Thursday and Friday.

The (13-9-1) Spruce Kings are 4th out of 9 in the BCHL Interior Division.

Prince George does not have another home game until January 12th against West Kelowna.

NFL: 

The NFL has lost a legend.

Hall of Fame coach turned broadcaster John Madden has passed away.

He was 85.

According to the league, Madden died unexpectedly and did not detail a cause.
