WHL:

The Prince George Cougars will be idle this weekend as their home games against the Victoria Royals Friday and Saturday have been postponed.

The Royals have been shut down for COVID-19 protocols with seven players on the list.

Both the (13-17-1-1) Cougars, who have lost their last five, and the (12-14-4) Royals have 28 points, tied for 7th in the Western Conference standings, three points behind the Vancouver Giants.

The Cougars are 5-0 this season against the Royals.

BCHL:

The (14-9-1-1) Prince George Spruce Kings visit the (15-10-2) Cranbrook Bucks Friday and Saturday before having a home game on Wednesday of next week against West Kelowna.

The Spruce Kings had a scheduled Wednesday game (Jan 5th) against the Smoke Eaters in Trail postponed due to COVID-19 precautions.

Prince George is 5th in points in the 9-team Interior Division.

BC Elite Hockey League: (AAA)

The U-18 Cariboo Cougars were scheduled to host the (6-12-0-2) South Island Royals Saturday and Sunday at Kin 1 but those games have been postponed.

Cariboo is hoping to play Jan 15th and 16 against the (8-7-1-2) Okanagan Rockets in Kelowna.

The (9-9-1-1) U-18 Cougars are in fifth place in the 10-team division while the Rockets are 6th.

NHL: (2 Wednesday games)

Toronto  4  Edmonton  2

Pittsburgh  5  St. Louis  3

There are 11 NHL games tonight (Thursday) but just two Canadian teams in action: Calgary at Tampa Bay and Winnipeg at Colorado.

The (16-15-3) Vancouver Canucks, who are 8-0-1 under head coach Bruce Boudreau, host the Ottawa Senators Saturday night at 7:00.

NBA:

Toronto Raptors  117  Milwaukee Bucks  111

The (18-17) Raptors, riding a 4-game winning streak, host the Utah Jazz Friday night (4:30 PT).

NFL:

Week 18 to conclude the NFL regular season will have a pair of Saturday games: Kansas City at Denver (1:30 PT) and Dallas at Philadelphia (5:15) followed by 14 on Sunday.

The 13-3 Green Packers have already clinched the top spot in the NFC and will have home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
