Spruce Kings to host Salmon Arm in PG after BCHL Road Show postponed

The BCHL’S Road Show event scheduled for next month in Burns Lake has been postponed until next year due to the pandemic.

The event, featuring two regular-season games between the Prince George Spruce Kings and the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, had been slated for February 26 and 27 at Tom Forsyth Memorial Arena.

“We are extremely disappointed to have to postpone this event,” said BCHL Commissioner Chris Hebb.

“The community of Burns Lake and the Lake Babine Nation have been so supportive since day one. Unfortunately, the league and the host committee came to the difficult decision to postpone the event to next year in order to give Burns Lake the full Road Show experience. We look forward to hosting a great event next season.”

The two games will now be held on Feb. 25 and 26 in Prince George.

“The Lake Babine Nation is greatly disappointed with the postponement of the Road Show event due to the rising cases of COVID-19,” said Chief Murphy Abraham of Lake Babine Nation.

“The best route to take right now is to postpone this event and minimize any further cases within the 6 Nations and the Village of Burns Lake. We are grateful however that this event will return next year in a much more extravagant and significant way that will be memorable for all to see.”

Dates for next year’s Road Show will be announced at a later date.
