School District 57 is dealing with some slight disruptions when it comes to busing kids to and from school.
Over the past two days, Diversified Transporation has been forced to cancel a couple of routes due to staffing shortages, which have been illness-related.
Assistant Superintendent, Kap Manhas told MyPGNow.com the Omicron variant has thrown a curveball when it comes to getting kids to class.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience through this time and we are going to do the best we can to communicate effectively with parents. It has been a challenge the last day or two as we are sort of entering into this realm of challenging times.”
“There are illness-related absences because of Omicron and just how quickly that it spreads. We may see some of our labour force see some challenging situations so I believe that is what’s kind of occurring right now.”
Manhas reminds parents to check the My School Bus Monitor website for the latest updates, which are posted every morning.
He adds the district is trying to ensure all long-haul routes in the more rural areas continue to run during this time.
