Prince George Local Health Area’s case count continues to rise

The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) reports that the number of new COVID-19 cases in the Prince George Local Health area have had another sharp increase.

There were 402 new cases in the area for last week (January 2nd to 8th). The week before (December 26th to January 1st), there were 234 cases.

The BCCDC’s latest data shows 71% of people 70 and older in the PG Local Health Area have now had their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, a three-percent increase from one week ago.

In addition, 31% of Prince George kids between the ages of 5 and 11 have now had their first dose, a two-percent increase.

88% of people 12 and older in the area have had a first dose, and 84% have had their second, no change from last week.
